File a Complaint Against Yelp

1 · Your card issuer

Fastest path to money back — if Yelp charged you wrongly.

Personal card (including a sole proprietor's personal card used for business — federal consumer protection applies either way): the Fair Credit Billing Act gives you the right to dispute in writing within 60 days of the statement showing the charge. The issuer must acknowledge within 30 days, resolve within two billing cycles, and cannot report the disputed amount as delinquent while investigating. No minimum dollar amount. Write to the billing-dispute address on your statement.

Business card (corporate LLC/inc account): no federal billing law covers it. Your bank still runs its own dispute process under Visa/Mastercard rules — call the number on your card and ask what your options are.

2 · Your state's consumer protection office

Takes complaints about unfair or deceptive business practices. Every complaint is logged and counted, even when no case opens — volume drives enforcement. Name the dates, the amounts, and any sales rep.

California residents: privacy complaints under the CCPA go to the California Privacy Protection Agency.

3 · The BBB

Yelp is not BBB-accredited, but it answers complaints there — and on Yelp's BBB profile, complaints show refunds following BBB filings. This is the channel where Yelp actually responds.

4 · The FTC

The FTC does not resolve individual complaints. Reports feed its enforcement database (Consumer Sentinel) — patterns of reports drive investigations and fines. Takes about five minutes, and you can file anonymously.
